→ Meet Oreoluwa Odubanjo, a product manager originally trained in Food Science and Technology. Ore found herself fascinated by digital products, their development, and the growth they undergo across various phases. She shared with us in a virtual interview that curiosity led her down the path of product management.

Discovering Product Management

Ore first stumbled upon the concept of product management while researching online for non-coding tech roles. With a background in product development, which resulted from working in a software development company, she immediately resonated with the idea of going beyond building a product into understanding user needs, market fit and iteration, etc.

She mentioned she started with a few online courses and eventually got her first internship. But after gaining hands-on experience, Ore said she hit a wall:

“I knew I needed more knowledge. I didn’t just want a self-paced course; I wanted hands-on learning, something structured and practical.”

Navigating the Job, Skills Gap and Need for Clarity

Although she had been aware of Treford for a while and attended a few of our free events, it was a quiz win during one of those community events that finally prompted her to apply for the Product Management Bootcamp.

She had her doubts at first:

“I wasn’t a beginner, so I wasn’t sure if it was for me. But going through the curriculum, I saw topics that went beyond the basics—roadmapping, research, technical fluency exactly what I needed clarity on.”

What sealed the deal:

  • A structured 12-week curriculum
  • Live classes and interactive sessions
  • Mentorship and capstone projects
  • A learning community filled with practicing professionals

The Bootcamp Experience

Ore shares some of her favourite moments and takeaways from the bootcamp:

Live Sessions That Simplified Complex Topics

She appreciated how facilitators broke down concepts like user research and roadmapping into practical, real-world strategies.

Mentorship That Went Beyond Theory

“Toyin, my mentor, didn’t just answer our questions. He gave us job search insights, helped us improve our CVs and shared valuable resources.”

Capstone Projects That Mimicked Real Work

Rather than a last-minute assignment, Ore says she loved how the capstone was integrated into the entire learning journey, allowing for time to think, feedback from coaches, and the final pitch that mimicked real-life product presentations.

Networking That Didn’t Feel Forced

“Even if you weren’t big on networking, the breakout sessions pushed you to connect. I met PMs, Business Analyst, designers—people I still keep in touch with.”

Applying It All on the Job

Ore told our team she returned to her job with more clarity, structure and confidence. Topics like user research and roadmap planning are no longer vague.

She also highlights how lessons in technical fluency and intentional career planning helped her show up better in her current role and prepare for future opportunities:

“Now I know how to communicate better with engineers, write product specs, and even structure my CV to match the roles I’m applying for.”

How Treford Empowers Professionals

For Ore, the Treford bootcamp wasn’t just a learning experience; it was a case of identifying skills gaps, understanding what it takes to be successful at that level, and going all out to equip herself so she can perform excellently on the job.

It was a step in the right direction. Today, Ore has since moved from that role into even a more niche role (fintech product manager) and we couldn’t be more proud of her career growth.

“It helped me unlearn and relearn. I didn’t just go back to the basics; I learned new skills and how to apply them better.”

If you’re a practicing product manager like Ore, hungry for clarity, hands-on learning, better performance, skills to drive business impact, and mentorship that pushes your growth, Treford’s Product Management Accelerator Program could be your next big step.
